How do I deactivate a resource?
Last edited: October 23, 2026
Deactivation changes a resource’s Active status without deleting its record or historical revisions. This procedure applies only to operators authorized to change resource status in the applicable library.
Procedure
- Sign in to GCO2 with an account authorized to manage resource status.
- Open Resource Management and locate the intended resource. Confirm the library, title and current Active status.
- Select the checkbox for the correct resource. For multiple resources, review each selected record before proceeding.
- Choose Deactivate selected from the available status actions.
- Use the interface’s confirmation control to apply the selected action. Do not proceed if the list contains a resource that should remain Active.
- Review the outcome notice and, when offered, open View Audit Results to inspect each resource’s result and any warning.
- Use the status filter to locate the resource again and confirm it now appears as Inactive.
Important notes
- Deactivation is not permanent deletion. It preserves the resource and its recorded revision history.
- Changing the Active selection of a file revision is a separate decision from deactivating the resource itself.
- If a status action is not offered or is blocked, do not bypass the authorization or library restrictions.
- Do not use a database delete or WordPress Trash workaround as a substitute for an approved Resource Management action.
Verification
Confirm the resource’s Inactive state and review the available audit results. If a selected row was skipped or blocked, investigate its reported reason rather than assuming the entire batch succeeded.
