How do I create a resource?
Last edited: October 23, 2026
This procedure is for signed-in operators whose assigned permissions allow them to create a resource in the applicable library. It does not grant permissions to a role that lacks them.
Procedure
- Sign in to the website using an authorized account.
- Open the GCO2 administrative interface and select Resource Management.
- Select Add New to open the resource form.
- Select the appropriate Resource Type and Library. Check that the intended audience, category and any grouping are appropriate for the publication.
- Enter a descriptive title and complete the fields displayed for the selected resource type. Supply the required file, media or external address using the controls provided by the form.
- Review the resource’s Active/Inactive state and any version information before saving. Do not assume that uploading a newer file will automatically select it as Active.
- Select Save Resource. If validation fails, correct the identified fields and save again.
- Return to Resource Management, locate the new record and confirm its title, type, library, audience and status.
Important notes
- Available libraries, fields and actions vary with the resource type and the signed-in operator’s authorization.
- Do not treat a draft, inactive or restricted item as publicly available until its approved state and audience have been verified.
- Retain prior versions whenever a resource already exists; use the governed revision workflow rather than creating a duplicate solely to replace an existing file.
Verification
Reopen the saved resource and confirm that its classification, intended audience, file or destination and Active state match the approved publication decision.
